Today was not yesterday..............

Well boys after yesterday’s success I thought it would behoove me to take another bite at the apple before the cold temps came in this afternoon. I woke this morning with the weather man telling me it was 32 degrees Fahrenheit and the temps were projected to drop like a rock by noon. Oh they dropped and dropped fast they did. My waders hit the water at 7 am on the dot. To my disappointment the light rain we received overnight turned the yesterday's green water to a light silty brown with about 12 to 13 inches of visibility.

I walked the stream and focused on about 5 spots today. I figured that I would hit them all quickly looking for hot fish then concentrate on holding water with a slow current the rest of the time. I first was confronted with a few brief snow squalls with a strong wind which as predicted would ice up the guides. What I did not expect was in the first hour of the morning the temp dropped from 32 to 25. This caused some difficulties with reel.
The moisture from the melting snow on the reel spool and the dropping temps locked up the reel a few times and I had to breathe on the spool to thaw it out. Yes I know a neoprene reel pouch with a heat pack would have made my life easier. If I can ever find that thing. After 2 1/2 hours on the water, I had enough and the water was getting browner. I walked out of the gorge at 9:30 and called it a day. Sorry no excitement today guys. As I write this at 10:30am the temp is already down to 20 degrees. As they say... “WTF BFF”
I will be back out at it this weekend if conditions are good.

Until then Good luck gentleman.
